About Me
Enthusiast astrophotographer on a budget by night, by day I work as a Senior Researcher at the University of Mons, Belgium.
I am passionate about photography and curious about the cosmos. It was only matter of time before I would discover the challenging, yet wonderful and addicting, world of astrophotography.
My Gear
I started with a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer, my Olympus micro four thirds camera and some 40 years old lenses from the Olympus OM system. I then moved to the Sky-Watcher AZ-GTi upgraded with the dual mode firmware and a Sky-Watcher NEQ5 PRO. I am now imaging with a ZWO ASI183MC not cooled and ASI224MC for planetary work.
I have a Celestron C5 (with the Celestron 0.63x reducer) I use for planetary, lunar and solar photography and for small deep sky objects. For wide star fields I use the Samyang 135 f/2 and the cheapcat (Sky-Watcher Evoguide 50ED with flattener).
My latest and final addition to the family is a wonderful light bucket: the Sky-Watcher Quattro 150/600.
The ZWO ASIAIR 1st generation and ZWO 30F4 mini guide scope with ZWO ASI120MM mini compete my setup, together with the Optolong L-PRO and Optolong L-Enhance 1.25” filters.
Education and Activities
I have no formal train in astronomy or astrophysics, and when it comes to astrophotography, I am self-taught. My favourite source of info are a few Facebook groups dedicated to astrophotography such as Learning Astrophotography, Astrophotography for beginners and Budget Astrophotography.
I collaborate as regular writer with the NightSkyPix website, a website dedicated to astronomy and astrophotography. In the past, I also wrote articles about photography for Expert Photography and Digital Photography School.
